The Harbor
I sat and watched an old man fish
Alone upon the sea
The sky was blue the wind was still
The surf calm as it could be
Suddenly the clear blue sky
Turned a threatening gray
The tiny ship that once gently rocked
Violently began to sway
I watched the crashing waves
As upon the boat they slammed
I couldn’t help but feel the ship
Would certainly go down
But slowly the old man raised his sails
And turned his ship around
Through the rain, wind and waves
Sailed back into the sound
He anchored down his vessel
Between the rocks and trees
For there he found safe harbor
From the raging sea
I’ve often thought about the storm
The old man had endured
And if it wasn’t for the harbor
He’d perished that day for sure
Often times I have storms
That quickly come my way
And the crashing of the waves
Causes my world to sway
I too have a safe harbor
It’s there I’m anchored down
For on the solid rock of Jesus
I am safe and sound
